Terrazzo dell'lnfinito

Ernest Beckett

Ravelo, Italy

20th Century

Having moved through the formal gardens of Villa Cimbrone you arrive at this staggering cliff-top terrace about which was written "it is closer to heaven than to the shore".

From the Terrazzo it is possible to view the earth's curvature through the line of the horizon. The opportunity to place ourselves upon the real sphere of the planet rarely presents itself while our feet are till upon it's surface. This is a thrilling and unfamiliar level of orientation. It entirely completes the exhilarating experience of this location.
