Madrid, Spain

2008

An arts and cultural center fusing the hollowed brick shell of an old industrial structure with contemporary materials and an innovative reworking of the site.

Structure

This building reinvigorates what was an unusual industrial brick structure and a difficult site in the center of Madrid's cultural district. The brilliant orange of rusted steal against a lush twenty meter vertical garden and the blue of the sky draws the visitor into the newly created forecourt and up into the complex airy spaces within.
