Michael Reidel - Laws Of Form - David Zwirner - London

This is Michael Reidel's first London exhibition with David Zwirner Gallery. The works, which span numerous projects and, essentially, in Reidel's work, reference both prior elements from his own practice and found materials, are unified by a concern with the transmission of information. As typography, images and logos fuse, distort and reconfigure through multiple reproductions and juxtapositions, a new grammar of pattern and meaning emerges. The large works in the first floor galleries are at once, meticulously formal and thrillingly complex. There is clearly a dense archeology of process involved in bringing the raw materials to this point but the new identity of the works has such presence it feels almost irrelevant to start digging.
